Charity for 2025

The Honeypot Children’s Charity aims to build brighter futures and create happy childhood memories for young carers aged 5-12. As a charity we aim to support over 4,000 children a year and this includes 1,000 young carers from across the South of England and S&W London who come to Honeypot House just outside Exbury in the New Forest for their annual respite breaks. Currently West Sussex Young Carers refers 40 children to us and Surrey Young Carers refer 43 children for Honeypot support. We invite these young carers to Honeypot House every year for a 3 day, 2 night residential respite break full of fun. Our unique services start at the very young age of 5 and continue until the child’s 13th birthday and we help these children who are caring for someone they love feel less isolated, know that they belong to a social group of like-minded young people who know and understand the challenges of caring and that they can talk to a Honeypot adult when they need to too.

Charity for 2023

Established in 2014, Dementia Support is a charity that has been delivering integrated dementia services from its purpose-built hub in West Sussex for over 5 years.

The charity was the vision of several local people who had experienced dementia within their families and understood the lack of support and help available. They conducted a feasibility study which involved talking to people living with dementia, their families and carers and local dementia “professionals” which revealed that services were at best fragmented, that people did not know where to go or what to do once they had received a diagnosis or if they had concerns about memory or brain functioning – ultimately people felt alone and abandoned.  The founders of Dementia Support felt passionately that those affected deserved better.

Libby Milling and Alistair handed over a cheque for £2550 to Lisa Hoare from Dementia Support.
